Assembly initiative aims to make children aware of the dangers of smoking

Funded by a grant from the Anglesey Health Alliance, Dragon Sports and Bygiau Baco (Smoke Bugs) teamed up this week to raise awareness of the benefits of no smoking at Llangefni area primary schools.

Bygiau Baco is a Welsh Assembly Government initiative which aims to help make children aware of the dangers of smoking. A local magician entertained youngsters from years 3,4,5 an 6 giving out an important message of no smoking and its effects.

Dragon Sports Officers also held  healthy eating sessions along with  keeping active sessions using videos and tools to show what effect smoking has to performance in sports.

Barry Edwards, Dragon Sports co-ordinator said “This week has been a great success, the magician was fantastic in portraying this important message in a fun way and the youngsters had obviously learnt something by the question and answer session afterwards, we hope that these sessions will educate youngsters never to smoke.”
