Gwynedd Council elects new Chairman

At the annual Gwynedd Council meeting on 13 May, Councillor W Tudor Owen (Peblig, Caernarfon) was elected as Gwynedd Council Chairman, and Councillor John Gwilym Jones (Llanengan) as Vice-Chairman.

A Gwynedd Councillor since 1995 and previously Arfon Borough Council, he was born and bred in Caernarfon.

As he was elected as Gwynedd Council Chairman, Councillor W Tudor Owen said:

“It is a great privilege and honour to have been elected Chairman of Gwynedd Council. I will do my best to serve and promote the good work of Gwynedd Council for the benefit of all the county’s residents during the year ahead”.

A Caernarfon Town Councillor since 1990, Councillor W Tudor Owen served as Mayor in 1995 and again in 2005.

He is married to Brenda and they have two daughters, a son and four grandchildren.

John Gwilym Jones was elected as Vice-Chairman. He has been a member of Gwynedd Council 2004.
