Hook focused on present not future

Wales star James Hook has reiterated his desire to concentrate on getting back to his best rather than looking for a move away from the Ospreys.

Hook was in sensational form for both club and country last season, guiding the Ospreys to Magners League glory and producing a series of stunning displays in the autumn internationals, Six Nations and the summer Test against South Africa.

The 25-year-old Lions tourist has only just returned to action following a shoulder injury but he is currently receiving more column inches from journalists speculating about his future than those discussing his form.

Hook has been heavily linked with a move to French giants Perpignan, with the Catalan club’s president claiming talks were at an advanced stage.

But Hook himself has again made it clear that his only focus is on performing well for his region and ensuring he earns selection for the opening autumn Test against Australia on Saturday, November 6.

“To be honest, I don’t know much about it,” said Hook of the Perpignan links.

“I know I’m repeating myself but I’ve always said I’ll make a decision on my future in the next month or two. Obviously there’s a lot of speculation because I’ll be out of contract.

“The main thing for me is getting back to playing after my injury and putting myself in contention for the autumn tests. That is all I can say really.”
