Jenkins praises Blues defence

CardiffBluesCardiff Blues prop Gethin Jenkins praised his team mates defence after their 15-9 home win over Toulouse, but warned they will have to improve for next week’s return match in southern France.

It was the second time in a row that the Blues had got the better of the three times Heineken Cup winners in the Welsh capital following on from their quarter-final triumph earlier in the year.

But even though they took the points, to make it two wins from three in their Pool, the Welsh region still find themselves a point behind their arch-rivals at the top of the table.

That’s why Wales and British & Irish Lions prop was quick to point out it is going to be another tough day at the office in a week’s time.

“This win has got our season back on track – it was a massive win for us and a massive team effort,” said the Heineken Man of the Match.

“We really dug in and our defence got on top. I also thought our kicking game for territory was better than theirs and all our back line did well in that area.

“But we know we have a very difficult game ahead of us next weekend. We went there two years ago, so we know what to expect.

“Toulouse are always a very physical side to play against and we are aware of how they will want to play against us at home. We’ve just got to rest up over the next few days and then get back up for the return game.”
