Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Mayor Cllr Robert Smith led the parade of lanterns made by local children.

Around 1,000 people gathered around the Christmas tree in The Bull Ring to enjoy traditional carols led by Tongwynlais Band. There was street entertainment on the Castle Green, where children also had an opportunity to visit Santa’s grotto.

Throughout the afternoon, a Christmas market selling foods, crafts and other goods was held at the Castle Green.

“Many thanks to everyone who came along to Llantrisant to make the festive event such a success. The atmosphere in the Old Town was magical,” said Councillor Smith.

The free event was organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Events team as part of their winter programme. For more information on winter events in Rhondda Cynon Taf, go to www.whatsonrct.co.uk or call 01443 425700.
