London Welsh Team v Pontypridd

British-&-Irish-CupLondon Welsh make 12 changes for their Round 2 B&I Cup trip to Pontypridd on Saturday at Sardis Road (kick-off 2:30pm).

Nick Scott and ex-Ponty centre Sonny Parker keep their places in the backs, but otherwise it’s all change with Seb Jewell, Seb Stegmann, James Lewis and Gordon Ross all returning to the side, as head coach Justin Burnell names a strong line up for the return to his former club. Chris Cook wears the number nine jersey.

In the forwards, Mitch Lees is the only survivor from last weekend’s defeat to London Scottish, although he moves from the second row to the back row.

Saturday’s meeting will the first between the sides since the 1993/94 season when Welsh won 23-7 at Old Deer Park. The last time Welsh and Pontypridd locked horns at Sardis Road was in 1987/88 when the home came away with a comprehensive 35-9 win.

Saturday will be the tenth meeting between the clubs, with Pontypridd currently edging the head-to-head with five wins to the Exiles’ four.
