Montgomeryshire Shocked as MP Becomes a Mod

modsQuadrophenia grips Powys as local MP Glyn Davies stuns constituents by announcing he has purchased a scooter.

Horrified local residents, traumatised by the segway antics of Mr Davies’ predecessor Lembit Opik, are said to be hoping that the vehicle in question is more motability than mod.

Miss Gwenfair Geuffordd said:

‘Lovely to think he can still get about at his age. And, from the pictures I saw, he had his trousers on, which is always a plus with Glyn.

A spokesman for the Welsh Conservatives tonight refused to deny the rumour that Mr Davies had withdrawn to isolated Foel Studios to record covers of Mod classics such as ‘I’m Coming Home (to Berriew)’ ‘Can’t judge a Brooks by its Cover’ and ‘Boy from Welshpool City.’

Mr Davies had earlier this evening posted on the popular social media website, Facebook:

“Have just bought myself a scooter. It’s not a joke, or a response to my predecessor’s obsession with his Segways or Boris and his bikes. It’s a practical response to a little problem. For 4 yrs I’ve had a back problem which means by the end of a long day can’t walk far. So I need a taxi home. This costs the taxpayer. Reckon I could manage ok with a scooter. Mockery of my so-called friends will be small price to pay if saving lots of taxpayers money.”
