Neath prepare for examination

Neath returned to the top of the Principality Premiership after Tuesday’s 36-22 win over Carmarthen Quins but the Welsh All Blacks face an immediate test of their credentials at Cross Keys tonight (KO 7.15pm).

Neath have made several changes from the team that started against Carmarthen Quins with the team poised for another big effort at Pandy Park.

Neath Head Coach Patrick Horgan said: “We had to work hard to overcome Carmarthen Quins on Tuesday and we are expecting an equally as stern challenge from Cross Keys who are formidable fighters and will scrap for everything to stop us playing.

“They have had several good wins this season and will be striving hard to secure a place in the play-offs so we will need to be in the right frame of mind.

“Cross Keys have some good players and are always well led by Lloyd Burns who is one of the best all-round forwards in the Premiership. Mark Ring’s influence is easy to see, they work hard for each other and if we are to succeed our organisation and discipline will need to be spot on.

“We have made a few changes to keep the side fresh – the players coming in are aware of their responsibilities and we are all looking forward to it.”
