Round Up: SWALEC League East Divisions

Llantwit Fardre return to the top of SWALEC Division Two East after a 23-3 win at Newport Saracens.

Scrumhalf Luke Evans and wing Dean Thomas crossed for the visitors while they were also awarded a penalty try. For the sixth week in a row Llantwit Fardre failed to secure the ever elusive bonus point but a win was enough to see them overtake Treorchy who went down 27-16 at Gilfach Goch.

Fly half Gareth Walters and centre Adam Rees both grabbed tries for Gilfach Goch, who also leapfrog Treorchy into second place.

Ynysybwl battled to a 28-22 win at Abercynon securing the bonus point in the process. Gareth King, Lee Cummings, James Reed and Lewis Ryan all scored for Ynysybwl while Shaun Ireland kicked eight points. The efforts of brothers Geraint and Matthew Turner who scored all of their teams 22 points was not enough to help Abercynon to a home victory.

Elsewhere in the division Craig Sulaway’s try helped Garndiffaith secure their first win of the season with a shock 16-5 home win against third placed Mountain Ash.

Rhymney stay top of Division Three East after recording a narrow 15-10 win against Tredegar Ironsides with fly half Steven Lang kicking all his sides points.
