Dylan Blackey was part of a double celebration for his Dad when he was born at 9.02pm on 1 October, 1999.
Earlier in the day David Backey had sneaked a peak at Wales’ victory over Argentina at the Millennium Stadium in the opening game of the 1999 Rugby World Cup. Then came the even better news as his wife delivered a bouncing baby boy.
And as part of the Millennium Stadium’s 10th anniversary celebrations, Dylan and his Mum and Dad will be in Cardiff on Friday, 13 November to see Wales face 2011 Rugby World Cup rivals Samoa in the second game in the Invesco Perpetual Series ’09.
Dylan, who lives in Llangennech, won a free, four-person family ticket as part of an offer made by the WRU to any 10-year-olds born on the same day as the 1999 Rugby World Cup opened in the Welsh capital or on the day Wales beat South Africa for the first time on 26 June, 1999 – the first game at the newly constructed Millennium Stadium.
Dylan and his dad travelled to Cardiff last weekend to receive their tickets from 2005 Grand Slammer John Yapp and now they can’t wait to return for the main event against the tough tackling Samoans.
The WRU have put no limit on the amount of 10-year-olds who can claim the free family ticket for Wales v Samoa. The only criteria are that the relevant child must have been born on either 26 June or 1 October, 1999.
More children than ever before in Wales are expected to get behind their national sporting heroes for the game against the exciting Samoans following the launch of a £10 ticket for children and a unique group-booking offer to schools across the country from the WRU.
