Scarlets finally get their chance

After a month during which time rugby union in Wales has been placed on hold, the Scarlets Under 16s can finally book their place in the final of the WRU Age Grade Championship.

With Parc Erias out of action due to the weather conditions of late, Gogledd Cymru have switched Sunday’s game against the table-topping Scarlets, to Llangefni RFC.

And the visitors, who ran out 34-0 winners when the sides met on the opening day of the season at Llandovery can make sure of their place in the final should they secure an eighth successive victory of the season.

Jordan Williams, at outside half, has been the guiding light for a side that has run in 19 tries and ammassed 172 points in their seven games to date.

Team manager Wyn Thomas said; “They boys have done well so far this season and have shown significant improvement as the season has gone on.

“Obviously it has been a little frustrating of late due to the weather, but I’m sure both sides will be delighted to get this game up and running.”

In contrast to the Scarlets’ 100 per cent record, Gogledd Cymru have won only once in half a dozen attempts this term. However, they will hope to use home advantage this weekend in their bid to spring the first Age Grade surprise of 2010.

Should they win, it will take them above Blues North into fourth. However, the battle to reach the final is consigned to the Scarlets, Ospreys and Blues South.
