Swansea business directory launched

COMPANIES in Swansea are increasing their profile with the new edition of the Swansea Business Directory.

The directory provides a practical reference guide to the products and services of more than 2,000 companies trading across the City and County of Swansea. It is available as a hard copy publication, on CD Rom and online.

Swansea Council is behind the publication and hopes it will promote the development of stronger local business links.

The directory showcases what Swansea businesses have to offer to other companies across Wales, the UK and overseas.

Cllr Gareth Sullivan, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning, Economic and Strategic Development, said: “The current global economic downturn is creating huge challenges for business.

“The Swansea Business Directory is one of a series of measures through which the Council is seeking to support local businesses and employment and to help drive forward its economic regeneration strategy Swansea 2020 and encourage investment.

“I thank all those companies and organisations who have supported and contributed to the publication of the directory through advertising and supplying information.”

Stuart Taylor, president of the West Wales Chamber of Commerce, commended the directory.

He said: “The Swansea Business Directory 2009 is an important practical resource for businesses across the region.

“Not only does it does it provide an excellent guide to the wide range of goods and services that are available from businesses in Swansea, but it also showcases the many advantages and benefits that the area has to offer for incoming investors.”

One of the newest businesses to be listed in this year’s publication is Fforestfach-based ChauffeurDrive Swansea which offers a high-class chauffeur service. Vehicles in their fleet include ultra-modern S-class Mercedes long wheelbase cars and a 1930s-style Beauford open tourer that’s popular for wedding hire.

The main focus of the service includes corporate contracts and one-off special occasions, weddings, executive airport transfers and chauffeur driver hire.

Alex Zapettis, director of the family business, said: “We’re a new kid on the block in the Swansea business community so we’re eager to raise our profile. Our inclusion in the Swansea Business Directory 2009 is crucial to getting our name known.”
