Views sought on Pontarddulais regeneration

Views are being sought on possible future regeneration of land in the Pontarddulais area.

Swansea Council is putting together a draft development assessment for land south of the A48 and a public exhibition is shortly being held to gather feedback from the public.

The exhibition will last between noon and 6pm at the Institute on St Teilo Street from Tuesday September 28 to Thursday September 30 and will set out some of the issues, opportunities and constraints being faced. Officers from Swansea Council’s regeneration team will be on hand to answer questions and take note of views and comments.

The aim of the draft development assessment is to consider the potential for possible future development opportunities and highway links on the land south of the town while taking into account the broader context of regenerating Pontarddulais as a whole.

Cllr Gareth Sullivan, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic and Strategic Regeneration and Planning, said: “Public feedback is vital if any regeneration of land in the Pontarddulais area is to take place in future. This is why we’re keen on engaging as many local residents, traders, businesses and organisations as possible to gauge their views.

“These views would then help inform a regeneration and infrastructure strategy for Pontarddulais that people will again have an opportunity to help shape in future.

“I must stress that there are no firm proposals at this stage. This is merely the first stage of an evaluation process where all opinions will be warmly received.”
