A465 Fatal Collision: Victim Named

South Wales Police have confirmed the name of the pedestrian who died following a collision on the A465 on Tuesday morning (27 May), is Jonathan Howells.

JOnathan HOwellsThe 48 year-old man from Cwmaman died at the scene of the collision which occurred on the westbound carriageway of the A465, near the Cefn Coed Roundabout, Merthyr Tydfil at around 04.50hrs.

His family have paid the following tribute to him:

“Jonathan was a loyal and fantastic brother and son to all his family. He was born and brought up in Cwmaman and was well known and well liked to many people. He would do anything for anyone. Jonathan worked for various companies during his life and spent the majority of his career at Universal Furniture in Aberdare where he made many friends. He loved football and played for the local club as a youngster – he was an avid follower of West Ham United football club. He was also a keen pool player and was well known in local pubs and clubs. One of four children, Jonathan lived with his brother in the town and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”

Officers investigating the collision which involved a white BMW 3 Series are continuing their appeal for information.
They want to hear from anyone who may have seen the car or the pedestrian prior to the collision.
