Caernarfon Girl Chosen to Represent Britain

Nofio Gwynedd Swim 2A young girl from Caernarfon has recently been chosen to represent Britain in the European Junior Swimming Championships in Holland.

Mari Davies, a member of the Swim Gwynedd team, has been chosen to represent Britain following her success at the British National Swimming Championships in Glasgow.

Mari also competed with the rest of her Swim Gwynedd team mates from Caernarfon in the Welsh Easter National Championships in Swansea.

As part of the Swim Gwynedd, swimming squads provide a pathway for the county’s young swimmers to develop from club swimmers through to elite performance swimmers.

Councillor Paul Thomas, Gwynedd Council’s Cabinet member for Healthy Gwynedd said:

“I wish to congratulate the whole team on their success at the Welsh Easter National Championships in Swansea and especially Mari for being chosen to represent Britain in the European Junior Championships in Holland. It’s great to see such a success story which is a positive step towards achieving the Council’s Byw’n Iach vision of supporting and encouraging the people of Gwynedd to live a healthy lifestyle.”

Mari added:

“I really enjoy being a part of the Swim Gwynedd team and I’m looking forward to competing in the European Competition in Holland in July.”
