Flintshire’s Countryside Service has launched its annual events calendar after running a photographic competition.

The newly printed Countryside Events Calendar 2014 was officially launched on Sunday 19 January at Wepre Park Visitor Centre where competition winners gathered, with the overall winner, Steve Warrilow receiving a prize for the photograph used on the front cover. Other pictures used in the publication were taken by Jack Cawley, Sue Hutchings, Susan Thomas, Tony Stores, Dilwyn Parry Lloyd, Josie Rowlands and Jenny Waller.

The calendar gives details of inspirational guided walks, talks and events to discover the beautiful Flintshire countryside and wildlife in 2014.

Councillor Bernie Attridge, Cabinet Member for Environment said:

“This is a fantastic competition that gives all residents a chance to publish their pictures of the wonderful area we live in. It brings together some amazing views of the county and lists some great events so everyone can get involved in the local countryside.”

The Countryside Service is currently looking for entries for the 2015 photo calendar competition. This year’s theme is ‘People enjoying Flintshire Countryside’. Entries for each season will be put on display in the Wepre Park Visitor Centre and the winning entries will used in the calendar with the overall winner going on the front cover.
