Gwent and the Great War Exhibition at Risca Library

Launch Day - ExhibitionGwent Archives, in partnership with the Western Front Association (Gwent Branch), has recently launched a touring exhibition called ‘Gwent and the Great War’. The exhibition will arrive at Risca Library on 1st September and remain for a month.

The exhibition comprises of twenty themed banners which encompass all aspects of Gwent in WW1, including Miners at war, Food and rationing, Belgian refugees in Gwent, Women at war, Gwent merchant seamen and Sportsmen at war.

Peter Strong, chair of Western Front Association (Gwent Branch), said: “We have enjoyed helping to research and produce this travelling exhibition.”

Archives across Wales have a variety of resources which are useful when researching the history of WW1 including photos, diaries, letters, books, reports, minutes, certificates, files, posters, autograph albums and programmes.
