The Llwyddo’n Lleol project is continuing to support Gwynedd’s young people to establish their businesses and ventures by offering a bursary of up to £1,000.

Llwyddo’n Lleol is an innovative scheme, which is jointly funded by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government, Cyngor Gwynedd, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, 14-19 Network and Môn Menai Fund.

Ffion Roberts, 17 years old from Y Felinheli, received a bursary to establish her own fitness business – Ffion’s Fitness. Ffion is currently studying a sports development course at Coleg Menai, and also play’s football for Wales.

Ffion said:

“Fitness and keeping active is very important to me, and I wanted to help others do the same by offering fitness sessions at Y Felinheli Community Centre.

“The bursary has enabled me to purchase fitness equipment to use at the sessions with my clients; I wouldn’t have been able to buy this equipment and expand my business without the money from Llwyddo’n Lleol.”

Councillor John Wynn Jones, Gwynedd Council’s Economy Cabinet Member added:

“It’s vitally important that Gwynedd Council, through the Llwyddo’n Lleol project, supports the area’s young entrepreneurs to succeed in the business world. Indeed, the viability of the whole region’s economy depends on securing good livelihoods for our young people, be that in the business world or not, to ensure that they have the option of staying in their communities.

“The Llwyddo’n Lleol project has helped many young people across the county who has a business idea to develop their ideas further. I would encourage anyone who believes that they can do the same as these three to get in contact with the Llwyddo’n Lleol team.”
