Lucky numbers for RCT Mayor

Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor Cllr Robert Smith’s lucky numbers certainly came up when he met up with keen supporters at Castle Bingo.

The county’s first citizen was delighted to visit the popular venue in Nantgarw to receive a cheque for £2000, which was raised by kind-hearted customers who were invited to donate their loose change or buy trolley coins for £1.

The money was raised over the course of several weeks and is once again proof of the commitment Castle Bingo shows to Mayoral charities.

The firm has been one of the most dedicated supporters of the cause and presents a cheque annually.

Cllr Robert Smith attended the venue in Treforest this month to officially receive the cheque from Castle Leisure Chief Executive Jeffrey Harris and Nantgarw Deputy Manager Steven Hamley Lock.

The money donated this year will provide a welcome boost for the Mayor’s three good causes, which are Help for Heroes, Diabetes UK (Cymru) and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mayor Cllr Smith said: “I am so pleased we have such supportive organisations as Castle Bingo in our area. They donate money that has been donated by their audiences – our residents – every year and it really is appreciated.

“The collections before and after games of bingo raise much-needed money, every penny of which is donated to the three good causes I have chosen this year.

“Each of the charities is a worthy one and works to change and improve lives across RCT and beyond. A big thank you to Castle Bingo for these very lucky numbers!”

Sam Nicholas, General Manager at Castle Bingo, added: “We are always keen to get involved with work for local charities and thank all our customers for their continued generosity and support.”
