Pupils from Maesteg have appealed to the public to help reunite them with eight stolen mountain bikes.

The Vertigo mountain bikes were taken sometime between Saturday 12th July and 07.45 am on Monday 14th July.

PCSO John Hill said: “The pupils are obviously upset as a result of the thefts”.

The bikes, each worth £100, were stolen from a locked shed.  Thieves sawed through gate pivots to gain access to the shed.

PCSO Hill added: “The pupils at the school are just shocked that somebody would go out of their way to break through the gates and steal these bikes from them.  We hope that they can be recovered.”

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of the bikes, or who may have seen anything suspicious near the school over that weekend, is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number 1400252839.  Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website www.crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information.
