UPDATE: Appeal Following Three Police Officers Assaulted in Brynmawr

GwentpoliceGwent Police is appealing for information following three officers being assaulted in Market Square, Brynmawr at approximately 1am this morning, Monday 16th June.

The officers were called to a report of an attempted robbery at the location, and whilst making an arrest, people unconnected to the robbery became involved and the incident escalated to one of disorder.

The three officers, two females and one male, were taken to Nevill Hall Hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Three local people, two men aged 28 and 23 and a woman aged 23 have been arrested on suspicion of assault and violent disorder.  They are currently in police custody pending further enquiries.

A fourth man is also in custody arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

DI Paul Davies said: “Our officers were doing their job and the fact that they were assaulted is completely unacceptable. An investigation is now underway and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch straight away.”
