Ynyshir is a town in the Rhondda Valley in Wales. Ynyshir is Welsh for Long Island. Local legend has it that the Holy Grail once resided in Ynyshir for a period of time. This is commonly known amongst Grail enthusiasts, but not the general public.

The carbonated drink Lurvills Delight, a mixture of stingy nettles and dock leaves infused with juniper berry extract, was invented by the Lewis Twins Harold and Iolo, who hailed from the village, in 1895. The profits made from the drink was used to pay for 150 coal miners and their families from the village to emigrate to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Denver, Colorado in the USA. The drink had to cease production in 1910 due to a shortage of dock leaves in the local area.

The village is home to the Baden Powell Workingmen's Club, known throughout the area as a premium entertainment venue, famous for its traditional ales and locally brewed sherry. Traditional fare is served inside the club.

It is not commonly known that the comedian Eddie Large, the actor Stanley Baker and Queen Elizabeth II have traveled through the village en route to Pontypridd.
