Civic Centre, Swansea
The Civic Centre (nee County Hall) is one of the main office blocks for the City and County of Swansea council and is located at the Swansea Bay waterfront in Swansea, Wales. The building complex houses a public cafe, the central library for Swansea, an exhibition space, the West Glamorgan Archive Service and a contact centre for the council.

History
The building opened in July 1982 as the County Hall. Prior to local government reorganisation in 1996, it was the headquarters of the former West Glamorgan County Council. Under local government reorganisation in 1996 it kept its name of County Hall and was given to the City and County of Swansea council for use. It was renamed the Civic Centre on 19 March 2008.

Surroundings and Redevelopment
The County Hall is surrounded by three car parks, two dedicated car parks to the west and south east and a public car park, Paxton Street Car Park, to the north east. Plans are underway to redevelop the car park to the south east along with the Paxton Street car park with new office/retail premises along a with a public walkway to link the city centre to the waterfront promenade. It will be directly served with buses under the Swansea Metro scheme.
