North Wales. Conway Castle as seen from the town walls.
I can imagine the pride the local planning committee surveying the car park built with their approval must have felt upon its completion. Slap bang hard against the castle and within the city walls, it could not be more convenient. Unfortunately there was not room within the caste to place it there otherwise it would have even more convenient for visitors who after all bring in the tourist money.

Admittedly, some old buildings needed demolishing to put it within the walls but Conwy has many such buildings remaining so not to worry. No filling station however, an omission caused by the big retail sellers having outlets elsewhere, not needing one here and therefore not being
prepared to pay a substantial franchise fee. A thoughtful touch by the planners is the flower bed and trees, it shows the planning committee does care for the town and it does provide some space to pack dustbins on collection days. The odd feature of putting the parking bays for disabled drivers at the furthest point from the castle is recognition that they are going to be used by the able bodied in any event as witness the parking of the builders van, complete with ladders.

Good job, well done the committee, Conwy can be proud of your efforts.
