Crossgates (Welsh: Y Groes) is a small village in Powys, Wales, some 3 miles North East of Llandrindod Wells and 8 miles South East of Rhayader. The village grew up at the point where the A44 Leominster to Aberystwyth road intesects with the A483 Brecon to Newtown road.
There is a popular service station where the A44 and A483 roads intersect, and Pen-y-Bont railway station is located in the village despite being some 2 miles from Penybont itself.
There is also a primary school which opened in 1977, replacing an earlier school of 1872 which is now the Community Centre, a number of local shops including a post office and 2 pubs within the village, along with a hotel and a caravan site. The parish church dedicated to St Padarn is situated near the river bridge over the Ithon just south of the village. It contains an important Norman archway and rare carved tympanum, a Roman centurial stone and celtic stone carvings. The Rock Baptist Chapel is the earliest baptist foundation in Radnorshire.
