Llanvapley (Welsh: Llanfable) is a village in Monmouthshire, in South Wales, at grid reference SO364141. It is on the B4233, four miles from Abergavenny and ten miles from Monmouth.
Llanvapley has a cricket team, comprising a number of players from the village. Since the closure of the Red Hart Inn, the cricket pitch and pavilion have become the heart of the village and are widely appreciated. Abergavenny Cricket club share the pitch and contribute to the upkeep of the square. The cricket season lasts between May and August, when the upkeep of the pavilion is undertaken by a strapping young lad.
St Mabley's church is now holding services now that the problems with the roof and structural damage have been solved. Services resumed in April 2006 and attendances at the once a month service have been good. A new vicar was appointed in December 2006. Rev David Osborn has joined the parish after working in Bracknall for a number of years. He and his wife, Helen, have moved into the vicarage at Llantilio Crossenny which has been recently refurbished.
Many of the residents of Llanvapley have campaigned for the local pub, the Red Hart Inn, to be retained as a pub, despite its closure by its owners. This occurred around the time of the closure of two other local pubs, The Hostry and The Halfway House. The campaign achieved success in preventing change of use. The pub is unlikely to open in the future when unless the current owners depart and new management buy the pub. The Halfway House has recently changed hands and reopened as a pub in January 2007.
