Pontyberem is a village halfway between Carmarthen and Llanelli in Carmarthenshire, west Wales, UK. The Ward of Pontyberem, which also contains the hilltop village of Bancffosfelen, is home to around 2,800 people, around 80% of whom are Welsh-speaking. Pontyberem is situated in the Gwendraeth Valley. The village grew during the late 19th and early 20th Century with the growth of the mining industry in the area.

Menter Cwm Gwendraeth, the first community Welsh language initiative is based at Pontyberem.
