Aberystwyth has an old town pier jutting out into a curved bay.
Each Autumn the skies fill, morning and evening, with flocks of starlings who fly in from the surrounding countryside where they feed, to roost in every available nook, crevice, beam and ridge they can balance on under the pier. Not necessarily popular with some of the townies, I think they are fabulous and a real natural spectacle of a winter's eve. Here they are swooping past the eros-like statute which presents the castle to the sea.
