Beaumaris Castle
The biggest of Edward I's castles It represented the state of the art in medieval military architecture at the point when artillery began to make such castles obsolete. The castel was designed on the concentrentic plan, an outer wall with a series of inner walls, gates and towers. This outer wall had sixteen towers. At one time 2,500 men were involved in its constrution. The castle was begun in 1395 but never finished due to Edward embarking on his Scotish and French wars and running out of money.
