Bretton - From 'A Topographical Dictionary of Wales' (1849) BRETTON, a township, in the parish of Hawarden, union of Great Boughton, hundred of Mold, county of Flint, North Wales, 3 miles (S. E. by E.) from the town of Hawarden; containing 224 inhabitants. This hamlet is situated on the road from Chester to Flint. Contiguous to the village lies what was formerly the great marsh of Saltney, which extends into the county of Chester, and was inclosed pursuant to an act passed in the year 1778. |
