Darren Millar
Darren Millar (born 1976) is a Welsh politician. He is currently a Conservative member of the National Assembly for Wales for Clwyd West, as well as being a councillor on both Conwy County Borough Council and Kinmel Bay and Towyn Community Council.

Personal
Millar lives in the Kinmel Bay area with his wife and two children. He enjoys reading and history, and attends the North Coast Church.

Professional career
Prior to his election to the assembly, Millar was a manager for an international charity. He has also been an accountant working in the construction, care home and telecommunications industries, and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute.

Political career
In 2000, Millar became the youngest serving mayor in Wales, serving the township of Kinmel Bay and Towyn.

Millar has served as a governor of a number of schools since 1999, including his current governorship of George School, near Abergele. He is also a member of the North Wales Police Authority.

Millar has also been involved in a successful campaign to prevent a local specialist home for the blind, Llys Onnen from closing.

In the 2003 National Assembly for Wales election, he stood as a candidate for the Vale of Clwyd where he increased the Conservative's vote share by 8.4%.

In the 2007 National Assembly for Wales election, he was elected to the Clwyd West seat, defeating the incumbent Labour AM, Alun Pugh, by 6.1%. After winning the seat, he announced that he would not be standing for Conwy County Borough Council at the next election.
