Tonteg (Welsh: Ton-Teg) is a village near the town of Pontypridd in south Wales, and is located 14 km (9 miles) north west of Cardiff.

Tonteg sits on the west side of the River Taff valley, at the top of a hill known locally as Powerstation Hill. The hill gets its name from the Upper Boat power station which was situated at the bottom of the hill until it was demolished in 1972.

Tonteg sits right next to the village of Church Village and the boundaries between the two villages are blurred.

The Welsh Assembly Government are looking into the possibility of building a bypass to relieve the traffic that travels through Tonteg and Church Village on its way to Llantrisant.

The village has a fairly well preserved 12th century motte castle with an intact moat called Tomen-Y-Clawdd.

It used to have halts on two former rail lines that ran nearby - Barry Railway and Taff Vale Railway.
