Sandy Mewies
Sandra (Sandy) Mewies (born Feb 16, 1950) is the Labour Party National Assembly for Wales member from Brymbo, near Wrexham.

Education
Grove Park Girls' Grammar School, Wrexham. She has worked as a carer and as a lay inspector of schools.

Political career
County and Community Councillor, Wrexham for 16 years - she served as deputy leader and Mayor or a short time.

She was elected to the National Assembly for Wales in 2003 as a Labour candidate to represent Delyn and re-elected in 2007 with a majority of just 511. She is Chair of the controversial European and External Affairs Committee and sits on the Enterprise and Learning Committee.

During the last Assembly election campaign, the Western Mail newspaper claimed she had made "very little impact" during her four years as an Assembly Member. Her much reduced majority in 2007 was most likely due to her perceived ineffectiveness.
