A Brynmawr woman has been fined by magistrates and had her stereo confiscated for playing loud music.
Gail Hill, a council house tenant in Heol Derw, ignored an Abatement Notice served on her by Blaenau Gwent Council in February 2009 to stop playing her music at a level which caused people living nearby to complain.
In court, she admitted breaching the Abatement Notice and was fined £140 and ordered to pay £160 costs. The magistrates ordered she forfeit her stereo and speakers.
The Council’s Environmental Health officers sent Ms Hill warning letters, visited her property after receiving complaints and used noise monitoring equipment to record the volume of music. Then, acting on a warrant, they seized the stereo equipment.
