The winners of Blaenau Gwent Council’s annual biodiversity photography competition – SNAP – have been announced.
SNAP aims to get people of all ages outdoors and closer to nature. It is also a great way to record the rich biodiversity you can find across the county borough.
Hundreds of entries were received for this year’s competition. The photographs were all of an extremely high standard and displayed the variety of wildlife that can be found across Blaenau Gwent.
Mike Warburton was named Overall Winner for his picture of ‘the silver fox’ at Silent Valley Nature Reserve near Cwm.
Councillor Don Wilcox, Blaenau Gwent Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration and Biodiversity Champion said: “This is a great way to promote the wide diversity of wildlife in Blaenau Gwent as well as helping to record it so we can focus our conservation efforts and, of course, it gets local people out there to enjoy what’s right on their doorstep.”
