“Anglers Afloat” donate £511 to the RNLI.

This Sunday a group of Kayaking enthusiasts visited Horton and Port Eynon RNLI lifeboat station with a donation of £511.

The donations were collected from participants at a safety course on Kayaking given by kayak instructors John and Helen assisted by Ritchie and Paul, each participant gave £25 towards the donation. Some of the participants at the course were from Llanelli they are Ed Gibson, Adam Bailey, Jerry Beer, Paul Jenkins, Darren Cooke. The participants and their families presented the cheque to Peter Muxworthy, Horton and Port Eynon RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager.

They have recently formed a group with similar interests in kayaking calling themselves “Anglers Afloat” and visit the South Wales coast as well as the South West. The group were very keen on all aspects of safely of going to sea and were very knowledgeable on the safety requirements. A lot of questions were asked by both the enthusiast and the RNLI crew and it is hoped that the kayaking enthusiasts and the RNLI lifeboat will be able to exercise together in Port Eynon next year.

The group were able to see the lifeboat launch on exercise in Port Eynon bay, during which several “capsize” drills were carried out.
