100 Days to go until the Wrexham Eisteddfod

On 21 April there will be 100 days to go before Wrexham and District National Eisteddfod starts on Friday evening, 29 July, when Wales’ Three Tenors, Fflur Wyn, the local united male voice choir and Ysgol Morgan Llwyd Choir, performin the opening concert on the Pavilion stage.

With festival preparations hotting up, Wrexham itself is also preparing to welcome 150,00-160,000 visitors during the week from 30 July – 6 August this year.  Businesses across the catchment area have received Eisteddfod Packs via the local committees, and the pack is full of useful and interesting information on how to prepare for the Eisteddfod.

Elfed Roberts, Eisteddfod Chief Executive, said, “The support of local businesses is very important to us as an Eisteddfod, and the response of businesses across the Wrexham area has been very positive, with many showing their support for the festival over the past few months.

“The Business Pack summarises how businesses can prepare for the Eisteddfod’s visit, which can give the local economy a much-needed boost of £6-£8 million during the festival week, according to independent research, and we want to ensure that Wrexham companies and businesses have plenty of information to get ready for our visitors.

“From this week onwards, businesses will be able to register to be included in our online business directory – which is free of charge, and the directory will be published on our website for our visitors who want to find out more about the area before coming to the Eisteddfod.

“We have more than 700 caravans already booked to stay on our official caravan site, and thousands more will be looking for somewhere to stay locally.  This year’s caravan site is very convenient for the Maes itself, and we’re offering an  opportunity for local businesses to prepare a bilingual A5 leaflet to be included in our caravanners pack free of charge, as we know that many of our visitors like to spend some time getting to know the area and its amenities.

Wrexham is very convenient for the Maes and the caravan site, and it is a vibrant and busy town, so we’re sure it’ll appeal to our visitors.  Our hope in publishing the Business Pack is that the Wrexham area is aware of what happens when the Eisteddfod is held locally, and what they can expect when the festival opens its gates on Lower Berse Farm, off Ruthin Road, Wrexham, in 100 days.”
