South Wales Police say a 17-year-old was killed and two members of his family injured in a knife attack near Roath Park in Cardiff on Sunday afternoon.
Initial reports were of a stabbing in the popular park as police swamped the area, closed roads and deployed armed officers, the force helicopter and dog-handlers.
The 17-year-old was killed in a property in Ninian Road at about 1.40pm and police have appealed for witnesses and are seeking two men who were seen leaving the area in the direction of Shirley Road.
The two men are both of Asian appearance say police. The first was in his late 20s, of average height with a stocky build. He has dark hair and was dressed in dark clothing at the time.
The second man is slim and around 5′ 11″ in height. He was wearing a white jacket with a grey stripe on the sleeves.
Chief Superintendent Bob Tooby, divisional commander of Cardiff Police, told the BBC: “This is a very serious incident and I wish to reassure the local community that a full investigation is under way in order to trace and arrest those responsible.”
