Work to repair and improve Wrexham’s highways following the severe winter weather will start this month and will continue through to November.
£2.3 million has been made available for repair work to take place this financial year through our own funds, capital expenditure, Welsh Assembly Grants and prudential borrowing to improve and repair the county’s roads. Funds are also in place for next year, with a total investment of £4.319 million over two years.
Cllr David Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment and Transport, said:
“Wrexham, like other authorities across the UK, faced considerable problems with the highway network following one of the worst winters in 30 years. We have adopted a long term strategic approach to improving the highways infrastructure and officers and members have worked hard to secure funding to bring this welcome investment into repairs and improvements.” There will be some disruption while this work is carried out but this will be kept to a minimum. The programme of highway works to be carried out is available on Wrexham Council’s website www.wrexham.gov.uk/english/travel/highways/programme/capital.htm.
