South Wales charity, Llamau, is delighted to announce that from Monday 27th June one of their Caerphilly refuges will be staffed 24 hours a day. This will allow extremely vulnerably women and children escaping domestic abuse to receive support around the clock, whenever it is needed.
This decision follows the success of Llamau’s domestic abuse refuge in Merthyr which became the first women’s refuge in Wales to operate 24/7.
Frances Beecher, Llamau’s Chief Executive, said “Following our merger with Caerphilly Women’s Aid, we made a commitment to Caerphilly County Borough Council to provide a 24 hour refuge for women fleeing domestic abuse. We are so pleased to be able to fulfil this promise and know this will make a real difference for women and children in crisis.”
