DangerPoint Safety Education Centre, Talacre celebrated welcoming its 50,000th visitor with help from Year 6 pupils from Ysgol Emmanuel, Rhyl on Friday, 13th September.
They enjoyed a visit around the Centre learning about everyday dangers that we all may encounter.
Julie Evans, Centre Manager said ‘We are very proud to have engaged and educated such a large number of children and young people since DangerPoint opened in 2005. The Centre has gone from strength to strength and we look forward to the next 50,000!’
DangerPoint is a purpose-built education centre, designed like a film set, with stimulating, interactive and realistic safety settings, each focusing on everyday situations including: home; train; bus; beach, farm, floods; and shopping environments; as well as internet safety. Trained Rangers lead organised groups around the centre and educate them in all aspects of personal and social safety.
An independent charity, DangerPoint was been established via a unique partnership of public, private and voluntary sector stakeholders, including North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, BHP Billiton and others.
To celebrate welcoming 50,000 visitors, each Ysgol Emmanuel pupil was given a commemorative balloon to take home, and had a group photo taken with DangerPoint character K-os and the DangerPoint staff. They ended the visit with another special occasion by singing Happy Birthday to Mr Roberts, Year 6 class teacher!
