Police are calling on the public to help trace a 66-year-old man who is missing from his home in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Owain Tudur Jones, who is locally known as ‘Tudur’, was last seen on Monday afternoon, September 13, when he travelled by bus from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Llandudno. Mr Jones alighted from the bus on Mostyn Street at about 3pm and his family has not heard from him since.
Mr Jones had been on a Silver Star coach holiday to Spain and only returned home last Saturday. Mr Jones has a free ‘all Wales bus pass’ and enjoys travelling by bus.
Mr Jones is described as being about 6 ft tall, brown hair that is graying and has a pale complexion. He was last seen wearing a flat cap and a three quarter length coat.
A family member said:
“This is totally out of character for Tudur. He normally tells us of any plans he has.
His mother died recently and Tudur has been feeling very low. I would urge anyone that has seen him to contact the police.”
They added: “We are getting really worried about him now.”
Sgt Raymond Williams at Blaenau Ffestiniog Police Station said: “Based on the information we received, an extensive coordinated search of Blaenau Ffestiniog has already been made by the police. The search, which took place on Wednesday evening also involved the Search and Rescue Dog Association and the local Mountain Rescue team.
An appeal and inquiries have also been made with hotels and guest houses in the Llandudno area where he was last seen.
Sgt Williams added: “I appeal to anyone who may have seen Mr Jones over the last few days or who may know of his whereabouts to contact officers immediately. It is possible that while Mr Jones was away on holiday with Silver Star, he may have mentioned future plans to a fellow passenger – I am keen to hear from that person or persons and ask that they contact me or my team of officers on 101 quoting reference L172782.”
Many years ago, Mr Jones was in the Merchant Navy and based at Liverpool. North Wales Police Officers are also appealing to people in the Liverpool area that if they have seen Mr Jones to please get in touch.
