Cosheston VC School has been awarded the bronze Sustainable Schools award.
Pupils celebrated at a special assembly this week when the prize was presented by Councillor Huw George, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Learning and the Welsh Language.
He congratulated the pupils on the work they have been doing to look after the planet and was given a tour of the school garden.
Pupils have enjoyed tending the garden and eating fruit and vegetables they have grown themselves, contributing to reducing food miles.
“The children have enjoyed all the activities connected with our bronze award,” said Katharine Adams, Deputy Headteacher.
“Our walk to school bus continues in its fifth year and the children enjoy passing the message of sustainability on to our community.”
The Sustainable Schools Award scheme recognises efforts to improve the local environment and quality of life now without damaging the planet for future generations.
