Funding Available for Promoting Gwynedd Communities

GwyneddIf you’re involved in a community or voluntary group in Gwynedd, you could be eligible for up to £2,500 of funding towards promoting and marketing your town centre.

From producing signs and posters to publicise an event to developing a website which promotes the area as a great place to visit – community groups can apply for up to 75% of their project costs.

The Gwynedd Town Centre Marketing and Promotion Fund is open until 31 March 2014, and its main aim is to support ventures which increase footfall and boost the economy of our town centres.

Councillor John Wynn Jones, the Gwynedd Cabinet member for the Economy and Communities, said:

“The Council has £15,000 in all as part of our three year Town Centre Improvement and Vitality Scheme. A community group, town or community council or business group can apply for up to £2,500 to market or promote town centres.

“We are keen to hear from people who are looking to improve their town centre. For example, the funding could go towards designing and printing visitor guides, making signs and banners for local attractions or promoting a series of events.

“Funding could also be available for representatives to attend trade shows or other events which are a platform for spreading the word about our own areas or activities.”

For more information, and a copy of the guidelines you will require to complete the application form, please contact the Gwynedd Community Chest team on 01286 679153.

Funding is awarded on a ‘first come first served’ basis and is only available during the 2013/14 financial year. Applicants will be informed whether they have been successful or not within two weeks of submitting their application.
