The number of cyclists riding on pavements in Cathays has significantly reduced following a six-month campaign.
Responding to concerns from residents, the local Neighbourhood Policing Team launched a monthly operation in August to prevent cycling on pavements, failing to observe traffic lights and parking in cycle lane.
That month 32 cyclists were spoken to by officers but only three were stopped in the latest day of action on Thursday, January 30.
Officers were on duty at Cathays Terrace, Senghennydd Road, Cathays Terrace, Crwys Road and Whitchurch Road between 9am and 10.30am.
Of the three cyclists spoken to for cycling on the footpath, one was issued with a fixed penalty notice.
All cyclists were given advice and provided educational material.
PCSO David Lloyd said: “There has been a major decrease in the number of cyclists warned which is good news for the community who had raised concerns and we intend continuing with this work.
“We appreciate that it can be difficult for cyclists when motorists park in designated cycle lanes and we are working with the local authority regarding this issue.”
Cathays Neighbourhood Policing Team have said that they’d like to thank cyclists, residents and motorists for their co- operation in this matter over the coming months.
