William Powell AM Accepts Petition to Maintain Fire Service Provision

IMG_1913William Powell AM, Chair of the National Assembly for Wales’ Petitions Committee, has accepted a petition calling on the Welsh Government to ensure fire services throughout the country are protected from severe budget cuts which inevitably impact upon the service and response times.

The budget cuts result for the Welsh Government’s decision to cut Local Authority funding.

William Powell AM, Liberal Democrat for Mid and West Wales, said:

“Welsh fire and rescue authorities are under increasing strain thanks to the Welsh Government’s decision to make further cuts to Local Authorities across Wales. Given the vital role that they play in ensuring community safety throughout Wales, it is vital that a long term, strategic approach is adopted.

“For this reason I was very pleased to accept this Petition on behalf of the Assembly Committee.”
