Police are appealing for information following an incident in Slade Woods, Rogiet which occurred at approximately 5pm on Thursday 6th February.
A 42 year old woman was out running, and while on High Moor Hill, reported seeing a man standing in her path holding an axe.
She ran in the other direction and called the police. She was unharmed.
Armed officers, police dogs and the helicopter conducted an area search at the time but no one fitting the description given was found.
Since then officers have been carrying out house to house enquiries in the area, patrols have been stepped up to reassure the local community and a 49 year old man from Bulwark arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area between 4-5pm on Thursday 6th February. This is a popular area for joggers and dog walkers.
