Scores of people affected by the December flooding in Kinmel Bay have told of their ongoing concerns at a public meeting organised by Clwyd West AM Darren Millar.
Friday’s meeting, which took place at Kinmel Bay Church on St Asaph Avenue, was filled with people whose homes and possessions were flooded on December 5th and who are now concerned that it will happen again.
Darren assured residents that their town would not be abandoned to the sea and that he would press the Welsh Government for the £5.1m Conwy County Borough Council says is needed to strengthen flood defences across the county.
Darren said:
“These residents have had a horrific few months and understandably are seriously concerned about future flooding.
“It is vital that lessons are learnt from recent experiences and that action is taken to give residents the peace of mind that everything that’s possibe is being done to prevent them ever having to go through such an ordeal again.
“I told them that I will be doing everything within my power to ensure that Kinmel Bay gets the defences it desperately needs.”
