Commenting on the announcement from the Welsh Labour Government of a review into non-financial support available to small businesses to operate alongside a detailed review into the establishment of a Business Development Bank for Wales, William Graham AM, Shadow Minister for Business, said:
“Welsh Conservatives have called for a regional network of business banks to improve access to finance and provide a source of independent business advice to small businesses.
“Together, these two reviews could bring the implementation of Welsh Conservative proposals to support small businesses a step closer.
“Small businesses are the backbone of the Welsh economy, but unless they can access finance and business advice when they need it, jobs and economic growth could be put at risk.
“Many in the business community will be groaning at Labour Ministers undertaking yet another review, while many small businesses struggle and risk going under.
“Wales’ economic competitors in the global race will not sit around waiting for lazy Labour Ministers to act.
“Carwyn Jones’ Labour Government must start taking evidence-based decisions more swiftly to help small businesses create jobs and encourage economic growth.”
