Flintshire Calls for LDP Candidate Sites

FlintshireThe Council is asking for help from the public in the next stage of Flintshire’s Local Development Plan (LDP).

The new LDP will set out Flintshire County Council’s policies and proposals for the development and use of land over the next 16 years replacing the current Unitary Development Plan. The Council is beginning a ‘Call for Candidate Sites’ inviting landowners, developers and any interested parties to put forward land for inclusion in the plan. It could be land suitable for housing, employment, retail, community facilities, open space or other uses.

The information will be gathered over the next three months from Friday 28 February till 5pm on Friday 30 May. The Council will assess the sites put forward for their suitability, but there is no guarantee that submitting a site will mean that it will be accepted by the Council.

Councillor Bernie Attridge, Cabinet Member for Environment said:

“This is the next formal stage of the Council’s LDP. Anyone who would like land put into the plan should make a submission. We want to involve residents, the public and local businesses in the process as much as possible. It’s important to apply or you can’t be considered at all. This plan sets the scene for planning until 2028 so we need to hear from everyone who is interested in the three months.”

Guidance notes explaining how to submit a Candidate Site as well as a submission form are available on the Council’s website www.flintshire.gov.uk, from Planning Reception at County Hall, from Flintshire Connects in Holywell and County Offices, as well as all libraries and can be accepted either by post or email.

Any queries relating to the Call for Candidate Sites should be directed to development [email protected] or 01352 703213.
